On recent years, Culiacán has turned into a guest-city for National and International Expos and Conventions since it counts on a great variety of spaces which offer first rate logistic services. The Conventions and Visitors Office (OVC), started on September 2001, and although it is one of the 37 most recent existing in the country, it has been able to place itself in the touristic and business environment in Mèxico. This organism was created by the Hotel and Motel Association in Culiacàn, Guasave and Guamuchil, due to the detonating socioeconomic developments which have taken Culiacàn to being one of the cities with greater investments attraction in the country and, to promote this destiny as a new and better touristic, business and great events option.
Mission:
To attract the greatest number of events (congresses, conventions, fairs and expositions) for Culiacán through the direct promotion with organizers, thus increasing the number of Hotel occupancy and economic flow in the region.
Vision:
To make Culiacán be one of the 7 best destinies in the country for business tourism, congresses and expositions, complemented by international tourism in a period not greater than 15 years.
This institution's function is to nationally and internationally promote and take steps for the realization of Fairs, Expos, Congresses and Conventions, in every field: academic, sportive, social, cultural, of consumption, scientific and artistic, among others. It counts for this on the participation of public and private companies whose main objective is to increase the flow and stay of visitors which generate a greater economic flow. At the same time, this office supports the exhibitors in facilitating their works in logistic, promotion, special fares for suppliers, necessary measures with the municipal or state government and eases sponsorship provisions.
It also provides the participants to such events, touristic information as well as promotional items, so that their stay in the city may be more pleasant.
This organism also actively participates in meetings organized by the National Association Conventions Office existing in the country, moreover in expositions which take place in the country to promote Culiacán and attract significant national as well as international events. Also, the Conventions and Visitors Office in Culiacàn (OCV) provides the visitor, touristic information through the web page www.culiacan.com.mx, interactive modules located in Centro Millenium and the International Airport in Culiacán, as well as in the pages of Culiacán, Cosechamos Sonrisas-Magazine^ (Culiacán, harvesting Smiles), brochures, and promotional articles which are distributed during events and in hotels throughout the city.
Some of the events that have been coordinated in conjunction with other institutions are: 1st. Restaurant Expo and 100th National Board Meeting of CANIRAC, Supply Expo , 31st National Congress and Assembly of the Mexican Federation of Attorney Colleges, 1st National Convention of Jeepers, Nautic Cup, CentroBasketball , Miss International Touristic Beauty, 42nd. National Appraisal Congress and Mexican Businesswomen National Association Congress.
